Critical Home Repair Programs
At Livingston County Habitat for Humanity, we believe everyone deserves a safe, decent, and affordable place to live. To meet the diverse needs of our community, we offer a variety of specialized critical home repair programs. Below is a quick summary of our current initiatives designed to help local homeowners maintain safety, accessibility, and peace of mind.
Livingston County Habitat’s "hand up, not a handout" initiative. This program utilizes an income-based, cost-sharing platform to provide affordable home repairs, ensuring local families can keep their homes safe, secure, and well-maintained.
A dedicated program ensuring Livingston County veterans have a safe place to call home. Launched as an initiative with Habitat Michigan, this program provides critical home repairs to qualified veterans at absolutely no cost to them.
Focused on safety and accessibility, this program provides and installs up to three (3) home grab bars. Installation is entirely free for households with incomes at or below $55,000 a year, and available for a flat fee of $75 for households above that limit.

Designed for urgent, large-scale needs, this program addresses major home repairs that fall beyond the scope of our A Brush With Kindness services. Funding and availability are limited, allowing eligible major structural or mechanical repairs to be completed at no cost to the homeowner.
