Priority Home Repair
Addressing critical structural, mechanical, and safety emergencies at no cost to the homeowner.
Program overview
When major home systems fail, they
threaten the entire stability of the
household. The Priority Home Repair
Program is designed specifically to
tackle urgent, large-scale structural or
mechanical emergencies that fall
completely beyond the scope of
traditional maintenance. Because
these projects require significant
resources, this program has limited
availability and focuses strictly on
critical health and safety interventions at no cost to eligible homeowners.

Examples of Eligible Priority Repairs
This program targets major issues that pose a risk to the health of the occupants or the structural integrity of the building:
Roofing: Total roof replacements to stop severe active leaks and structural rot.
HVAC Systems: Replacement of non-functioning furnaces or heating systems during critical seasonal months.
Major Plumbing/Electrical: Repairing hazardous electrical panels or catastrophic main plumbing failures.
Structural Failures: Stabilization of foundational elements, main support beams, or collapsing steps/porches.
Eligibility & Program Constraints
Limited Availability: Projects are approved on a rolling basis strictly determined by available grant funding and immediate severity of the home's condition.
Income & Residency Guidelines: Homeowners must reside in Livingston County, own the home, and household income must be at or below 80% Area Median Income (AMI).
Insurance & Property Taxes: Homeowners insurance and property taxes must be current, though assistance programs may be available in cases of hardship.
No-Cost Provision: If selected, all approved emergency repairs are completed though HUD funding, entirely free of charge to the homeowner.
