About Arise and Shine

Founded in 2018 by the late Beverly VandenBerg, Arise and Shine is a movement rooted in purpose and impact. It stands as a powerful reminder that women have the unique ability to create change, uplift one another, and lead with compassion. The event features empowering speakers, a luncheon, networking opportunities, and the presentation of the "Building Women" Award.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to support the Movers for Moms donation drive and register for the 2026 Women’s Build

Our Mission: Impact Through Action

At Livingston County Habitat for Humanity, we believe home is the foundation for a thriving future. With over 80% of the individuals we serve being women, this event is deeply connected to our daily work.

  • Serving Those in Need: We support seniors, veterans, individuals with disabilities, and families facing financial hardship due to unsafe living conditions.

  • Proven Results:

    • Homeownership: Two partner family homes were completed in 2025; a new family will receive keys to their forever home this spring.

    • Critical Repairs: Our “A Brush with Kindness” program completed 129 urgent projects last fiscal year, with 30 more currently underway.

    • Addressing the Crisis: With housing costs rising, we are tackling 18 major projects, including roof replacements, mobility ramps, and furnace installations.

Habitat for Humanity is first and foremost a non-profit builder with the mission of creating safe, decent and affordable housing for families in need in Livingston County. We do this in a partnership with families to provide "a hand up, not a hand out", and allow the purchase of a home and/or maintenance they would otherwise be unable to afford. Experience shows these opportunities are life changing for the families with which we partner.

We are a 501c3 Organization
