A Brush With Kindness FACT SHEET • Livingston County Habitat for Humanity is beginning a new housing repair program called A Brush with Kindness. • Habitat for Humanity’s A Brush with Kindness is a nation-wide program serving low-income homeowners who struggle to maintain the exterior of their homes. • Habitat for Humanity’s A Brush with Kindness focuses on exterior home repair services such as painting, minor exterior repairs, landscaping, caulking, service ramps and exterior clean-up). Groups of volunteers work to revitalize a home’s exterior. • Habitat for Humanity’s A Brush with Kindness serves low-income homeowners who are selected based on need, ability to pay, and willingness to participate through sweat equity. • Payments made by the partner family are placed in a revolving fund to help Habitat for Humanity’s A Brush with Kindness serve others in need. • Habitat for Humanity’s A Brush with Kindness uses volunteers, donated materials and no-interest loans to make repairs on homes, helping low-income homeowners continue to live independently and securely in their homes. • Habitat for Humanity’s A Brush with Kindness is part of Habitat’s Neighborhood Revitalization Initiative. This initiative is a holistic approach, assisting communities as well as families. It is designed to revitalizes the appearance of the neighborhood, encourages connections within the community, and most importantly, help preserve affordable housing stock. |
